Common sense

Thursday, October 18

It's been nearly two weeks since I set my heart on the saying 'third time's a charm.'

It's been nearly two weeks since the day I made clear to my neighbor girl who this guy was that secretly made her presents. I thought I also made clear that I would be glad if she wrote back (and that I would be more than glad if she truly was Rachelle). I thought I did.

For nearly two weeks my questions have remained unanswered. And for nearly two weeks, every second's been like a minute, every minute's been like a day. (I love these lines in 'wish you were here' by Rednex).

After nearly two weeks, after revealing why I keep on doing what I've been doing, after telling her who I am, and after providing her with my name and cell phone number, I have not heard anything from her.

«Hmm...»

It's hard for me to stay rational when Rachelle is involved. In fact, I believe it's simply impossible. Nonetheless, I've come up with a list of alternatives that explain to me why she doesn't reply:

#1 The girl is Rachelle. She has been utterly flattered by my presents. She would love me to go on, to never stop and see what my next step will be. She does not respond because she wants someone who is serious about this.
#2 It's her. She was flattered in the beginning, but somehow has an akward feeling about it. She feels it's inappropriate what I did and chooses to ignore it. This way, she needn't come up with silly excuses.
#3 It's her. She lives in a relationship that she'd like to leave. For her, it was nice to see that there are other men out there. It gives her a good feeling to start watching out for others.
#4 It's her. She happily lives in a relationship and wonders why I try to get her interested. She chooses not to reply as the response might hurt my feelings.
#5 It's her. She happily lives in a relationship and doesn't take seriously what I've intented to say. She doesn't reply, hoping I'll stop by myself because this is really getting on her nerves.
#6 It's her. She was terribly freightened by the fact that someone watched her doing dishes. She's in contact with the local police to discuss further steps. She considers installing a security system as she's had bad experiences with men, dislikes them, and does not trust them. She now believes some old, haggard yet frightening looking man, dressed in a black suit, has been around wanting to fulfill his darkest and nastiest fantasies with her.

#7 It's someone who looks just like her. A true doppelgänger.
#8 It's someone who does not look like her at all. My phantasies took over my visual perception.
#9 It's someone who does not look like her at all. It's time to check with a shrink as I likely went thru an acute schizoprehnic episode.
#8 It's a straight guy who laughs off his a**.

Besides my 'elaborate' list; with some commen sense, what explanation can there possibly be for someone not to react at all?

I wish I knew.
