More importantly - nor does the opposite

What do you mean, exactly? By the paraphrase: "The opposite of playing flashy doesn't work, either". It works for me - to dress and act humbly most of the time, then to occasionally "blow people out of the water" with a real zinger of a comment or with the wearing of some kind of different costume.
